When a friend of mine who is an evangelist came to town, I asked my friend Dave to come to her church service and to expect a miracle because his kidneys had shut down and he was on dialysis. He was also a brand-new Christian and very skeptical that God would or could do anything. After some arm twisting, he reluctantly agreed. When Rev. Ursula said, "There is someone here who has kidney disease -- please stand up because God is going to heal you," Dave stood up but instead of waiting for her to pray, or acknowledging that he had the disease, he walked out of the building and never came back.
Since I was more than eager to find out why he left, I called him after the service even though it was very late. He admitted that he thought it was a hoax. It was just impossible for him to believe that an evangelist could call him out like that. He was certain that I had talked to her about his condition.
After I convinced him that I had not even mentioned him or his disease to her but that she was operating in the "gift of a Word of Knowledge" as recorded in I Corinthians 12:8, he agreed to come to my home the next night for prayer.
I assured him that God would not reveal or call out his disease unless he intended to heal him and then my husband and I prayed for him to be healed, believing that as long as we have a relationship with Jesus Christ, we can expect no limitations.
The famous evangelist Kathryn Kuhlman said, "It is when active faith dares to believe God to the point of action that something has to happen."
The next time I heard from Dave was from his hospital bed. He related how the very next morning after we had prayed for him his doctor had called and said they had a donor organ and that it was a perfect match, which was a miracle in itself because for every kidney that becomes available, there are thousands waiting in line. The second miracle was that his body was not rejecting the transplant.
I was glad to see that he realized it was an act of God since his chances of having a transplant were almost zero. He knew it was an answer to our prayers and Rev. Ursula´s "Word of Knowledge" and he gave God all the glory.
Sometimes God does an instantaneous miracle and a person is immediately healed. Other times when God heals it takes a segment of time for the body to go through the process of restoration and rejuvenation. Still at other times, as in the case of Dave, he uses doctors and medicine. But even then, doctors can cut and sew and stitch but they do not have the power or ability to heal. That comes from God alone.
Having said all that, I want to share something incredible that happened just last week. My husband and I were at church listening to a visiting evangelist when he pointed me out and asked if I had a son. When I answered that I had three, he said that God was about to do something wonderful in my family. Something awesome.
When I told him that I had a son who has multiple sclerosis, the evangelist said that the Spirit of the Lord told him that he wanted to do something for our son. Then he prayed for our son Michael and said a mighty miracle would take place supernaturally in him as my husband and I lay hands on him and pray for him. He decreed that Michael will be a recipient of the power and the fire of almighty God and that he would be healed.
Although we have not seen evidence of that ´Word of Knowledge´ yet, we are believing that the healing has already happened in the spirit realm, the moment God called it out through the evangelist and that is just a matter of time before its manifested in the physical realm.
Naturally, my prayer is that God would give understanding and wisdom to the researchers so that they would find a cure for MS and that thousands of others would benefit also. So please join with me in prayer for all those who are disabled because of this terrible condition.
