God Will Send Fire From Heaven--Or Whatever Else You Decree
One of the most powerful demonstrations of God’s answer to prayer was when God sent fire from heaven in response to Elijah’s prayer.
The prophet Elijah was sent to confront King Ahab and his wicked wife Jezebel because they promoted the worship of false gods. This king did more to anger the Lord than any of the other kings of Israel before him, so God sent Elijah to proclaim a drought that lasted more than three years. Withholding rain was a little more than befitting because those that worshiped Baal believed he was the god who brought the rains and the bountiful harvests, so God decided to show them "who" was in charge of that department and of everything else for that matter.
The Lord commanded Elijah to bring all the people to Mount Carmel, along with the 850 false prophets so that the people would stop wavering between two opinions and start following the one and only true God.
Because the odds were in their favor, they agreed to prepare two bulls, one for Elijah and one for themselves and laid the pieces on their altars. The false prophets prayed to their gods all morning, afternoon and into the evening. They shouted and danced and even cut themselves with knives but they saw no reply. Elijah then dug a trench three feet wide around his altar and piled wood on it and saturated the bull and the wood with water so that it overflowed and filled the trench. He prayed, "Lord God, let it be known this day that You are God and that I am your servant and that I have done all this at your word so that this people may turn their hearts back to You again."
This request was not so that the people would bow down and worship Elijah nor was it to promote his ministry. Neither will God honor ‘blab it and grab it’ theology. God only responds when the motives are pure, the heart is right and the intent is to bring glory and honor to Him..
‘Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the dust and it licked up all the water that was in the trench.’ 1 Kings 18:38
This was an incredibly amazing audio visual display and it obviously produced the right effect because scripture says ‘Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, "The Lord, He is God!"’
Yes, He is and great is the fact that He is the same, ‘yesterday, today and forever more’! We need to know that we can call on heaven to pull down every stronghold in our life and the lives of our loved ones and in our community and throughout the entire world and that God will send fire at OUR word.
Impossible? Not at all! Let me tell you about the night I was praying for a lady who had called the television program I was hosting. In the middle of my prayer, all the fire alarms started to blare and we had to go off the air and evacuate the studio as fire trucks raced toward the building. They soon determined that there was no fire, no danger and no earthly reason for those alarms to sound.
The next morning, David Mainse, the producer and president said, "Donna, you be careful now, ya hear! Don’t go burning down my building."
I had no idea of what he meant until I watched a video tape of the program and heard myself praying, "Lord God, I pray that the fire of God comes down........." Ringggg!
Impossible? Not at all! God wants to come and burn out anything and everything in us that is not of Him and He wants to make us ‘as fire’. He wants to ignite our spirits and our souls and wants to set us ablaze for Him, manifesting Himself in and through us because fear and uncertainty about the future has gripped the world and people are desperately searching for the true and living God. At the same time there are many false gods vying for their hearts. There- fore we must walk in the supernatural power of God decreeing peace and blessings in these times of peril. We must act and live as the children of God so as to remove all and any doubt so that the people may say, ‘The Lord, HE is God!"
