Considering what has been unfolding in the Middle East, I felt I needed to address this pivotal situation and acquaint those who have not read God´s Word regarding Israel and these ´end times´ and do not know about the fate and outcome of this conflict that seems to have no solution what that outcome will be.
The Bible has much to say on the topic and therefore I have much to say on the matter, especially since I have been studying and following Bible Prophecy diligently for more than 25 years, but I won´t. I´m going to keep it short and to the point -- Israel MUST defend itself from those who want to push it into the sea. Period.
My other comment is this; prophecy foretells that this conflict will actually culminate with the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. These events are unfolding right before our very eyes. The mandate of the church in the meantime is to ´pray for the peace of Jerusalem´ (Psalm 122 KJV) even though that peace will not be achieved until the ´Prince of Peace´ returns to Zion to set up His eternal kingdom.
The point that I feel I really need to stress is that BECAUSE we are so very close to the end of the age, where we are going to have to stand before Christ and give an account for our lives, we need to ´walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.´ (Col. 1:12 KJV), now at this crucial hour, more than ever before. While we still have time.
I want to continue that scripture from the Living Bible version which says it so plainly; ´always thankful to the Father who has made us fit to share all the wonderful things that belong to those who live in the Kingdom of light. For He has rescued us out of the darkness and gloom of Satan´s kingdom and brought us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who bought our freedom with His blood and forgave us all our sins.´
That is a powerful scripture. Please read it again slowly. It means that we are to avoid MIXTURE and to walk in holiness and purity before God and man, having nothing to do with the corruption that surrounds us, thereby fulfilling our commission and pointing people to Christ.
Now let me quote George Warnock, an 88 year old Canadian who expands on this so plainly, "The ´Day of the Lord´ will deal with the horrible corruption that abounds in the land and especially with the mixture that has characterized the people of God. Often we are tainted with the corruption of the world, because we dwell in the very midst of it, and are not always aware of the effect it is having on our minds and spirits. Jesus warned us that because of the abundance of iniquity about us, the love of many would ´wax cold´. It is easy to slip into the way of the world, not realizing the world and its systems are the enemies of God, and he that would be ´a friend of the world is the enemy of God´."
Those words could haunt me terribly had I not repented beforehand of a major offense against God. I did not intend to offend Him. It happened so duplicitously. You see I LOVE a good crime drama. I was raised on ´Alfred Hitchcock´. I delight in figuring out the ending to these types of movies and have a gift which comes naturally and instinctively. That is why I´ve wanted to be a detective since I was in grade school. When I worked for the Provincial Courts, I could always trip up the accused person, who was lying through their teeth, by setting a trap and letting them hang themselves with their own words. The Crown Attorneys and judges and lawyers were absolutely amazed. This though is a very poor excuse for what happened the night I was in the rare mood to rent a video. Naturally it had to be a ´who done it´ movie. Suffice to say, it was the feature attraction recommended by the clerk so I asked no questions, didn´t read the ratings on the box and brought it home. By the time the movie crossed the line and I should have been turning it off, I was decidedly hooked and too intent on finding out if I had actually figured out the plot.
Oh yes, I felt convicted. Very convicted. But that did not override my desire to prove once again that I had this extraordinary gift. To make matters worse I actually recommended the movie to someone else stating that I had it figured out from the get-go. We then sat down to watch it together and it was while viewing it a second time (without the suspense of guessing the finale) that the realization of the sheer depravity of what I was watching hit me square between the eyes, not to mention the comment of the person watching it with me.
I was horrified. So was God. Shame on me.
"The night is far spent, the day (of Jesus´ return) is at hand: Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." (Rom.13:12 NKJV)
