When I wrote about my dream in last month´s article I did not know that there would be so many people wanting to know the interpretation to the first part of my dream so I will gladly elaborate.
In it I watched as statues of people were traveling on a conveyor belt headed for a cave. As these statues entered the cave they melted into a lake of gold. All seemed perfectly normal until the lake started to part from the center making a larger and larger circular opening and suddenly hoards of terrible, horrifying demonic spirits came rushing forth from the depths of this lake. What seemed to be a lake of gold was actually a lake of fire and the conveyor belt was deception carrying people into hell while appearing to take them to heaven.
This reminds me of the cliché that says, ´all that glitters is not gold.´ We can be too easily deceived.
"How could this be?" you ask. It is because Satan has had thousands of years of experience in deceiving us, not to mention that he was the most intelligent being ever created. He sends false prophets with false doctrines that come and ´if it were possible (they would) deceive the very elect.´ (Matt. 24:24)
Who are these elect? They are the children of God who cannot be deceived because of their solid foundation. The others are those that have been deceived because they have forsaken the truth of God and have been seduced by lies.
Many Christians want to follow Jesus from the manger to the mansion but totally bypass the cross which tells us to crucify the flesh and it´s evil desires. God´s mandate is that we walk in holiness and separation from sin ´without which no man shall see God.´ (Hebrews 12:14) We cannot live any way we please and demand that God accepts our dictates because He said, ´Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me (Jesus) cannot be my disciple.´ (Luke 14:26,27) Avoiding the cross leads to compromise with the world.
Repeatedly the bible warns; ´broad is the way that leadeth to destruction and many there be which go thereat.´ (Matt. 7:13) Many take the wide road because it seems to be easy street and requires few sacrifices. It doesn´t ask us to change our lifestyle and offers no moral restraints. Many times it seduces using the prosperity gospel and promises of riches.
It is amazing how little we hear preached about the narrow way yet it is the ´narrow way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.´
If you can be convinced that God is only a God of love and that He overlooks sin then you are walking on the broad way and there has been no transformation. You will then be able to convince yourself and others that because salvation comes through grace alone, that you have no responsibility and that you can act any way you please. Paul teaches in Galatians to ´walk in the Spirit, then we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.´ Because people often twist God´s word to agree with popular consensus we need to have both the Spirit AND the Word. One without the other is a dangerous imbalance.
To avoid deception and be the ´elect of God´ we need to periodically examine our relationship with Jesus. Is He on the throne of our life and our heart? Is our relationship strong and alive? Do we know His word so that neither man nor devil can seduce us into error? Are we becoming more like Him or becoming more like the world? Is our light shining brightly or has darkness permeated some corner of our soul?
Please do not answer these questions yourself, ask the Holy Spirit to answer them instead.
