During His three year ministry on earth Jesus taught Godís precepts and revealed life changing truths through parables. The entire bible is a compendium of thousands of stories about people very much like ourselves, with similar likes and dislikes, hopes and dreams, who had to deal with every day problems and hardships. Their stories clearly demonstrate that when they did things ĎGodís wayí they had victory in every area of their lives.
As everyone knows, I love to tell stories about what God has done in my own life. As a matter of fact this is why I chose Psalm 40 to be the name of my ministry. It reads, "He lifted me up also, out of the horrible pit, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock and established my goings. He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God; others shall see what He has done for me and put their trust in Him".
People will Ďsee what He has done for meí and they will be able to relate to my situations and apply my principles to their own lives while they glean wisdom from my experiences and learn valuable lessons from my mistakes. Through my stories I hope to impart faith into hopeless situations so that people will be able to trust God implicitly and know that His ultimate goal is their eternal (and temporal) well-being.
Last fall I wrote about how I desperately needed to buy something much bigger than the trailer which we had been staying in during the months we spent in Canada and how my dream to buy a little cottage was unexpectedly shattered. God did not seem to want to intervene on my behalf. He just ignored me in spite of my begging and pleading and whining, yet I stated emphatically in that article that I completely trusted His divine wisdom and foresight even though I felt crushed and even though I thought it would have been the ideal solution considering how cramped our living arrangements had been over the past seven years. Anything else within a hundred miles was five times the price.
Months later, in the middle of March, as we were being air-ambulanced back to Canada because of my husbandís health, I had to wonder why my plans to purchase that cottage were blocked. I arrived with one bag and open-toed sandals just as two separate blizzards hit Ontario. Living at our trailer was NOT an option. I knew God HAD to do something!
Not only did He DO something..... He had been making preparations for months. Our friends Penny and Anthony bought a huge home even though they really had no intention of relocating to another city at that time. The 100 year old house was just too good a deal to pass up, so they scooped it up and were convinced it was all according to Godís miraculous plan and perfect timing because they now had more than enough room to take me in out of the cold. They gave me the key to their house and the keys to their van and said, "Welcome to our family. Make yourself at home. Come and go as you please, for as long as you need."
I marveled at Godís provision but knew that since my husband would not be able to climb stairs when they released him from the hospital that he could not sleep on their living room sofa indefinitely. Our only solution was to move him to their cottage which just happened to be at the very same Christian Campground where the management had rejected us.
It was perfect. Not too big and not too small. And, whenever I walked through the fabulous compound and especially as I passed by the church I felt as though I was on holy ground. Day after day as my eyes feasted on the two hundred year old trees, the lilacs, the chipmunks, the birds and acres of cozy little cottages I thought my heart might break. I ached for such a place and thought heaven could not be much better than this!
Iím still not quite certain how it actually happened and the details are a bit of a blur, but by the middle of June our friends cottage became ours. Since they now lived only minutes away they realized it would be redundant to keep it. We applied to buy it and this time were instantly approved.
God somehow intervened and opened the door that had been slammed shut, on top of which, it was 30% cheaper than the one that I tried to buy last year. Iím not even going to try to figure it out, Iím just going to thank Him every day of my life and tell as many people as I can about this most incredible God that I serve.
